Business Associate Agreement
Partnering with SynapChart means your patient data is protected by a comprehensive, HIPAA-mandated Business Associate Agreement.
What Is a BAA?
A Business Associate Agreement is a legally binding contract required by HIPAA whenever a third party, like SynapChart, handles protected health information (PHI) on behalf of a covered entity. It defines the responsibilities and safeguards each party must maintain.
SynapChart's BAA Coverage
Our standard BAA covers all PHI processed through SynapChart, including medical chart images, extracted billing codes, and any clinical data analyzed by our AI. The agreement is aligned with 45 CFR §§ 164.502(e) and 164.504(e) and is reviewed annually by our legal and compliance teams.
How to Request a BAA
Requesting a BAA is simple. Contact our team through the link below or email compliance@synapchart.com. We typically execute agreements within 2–3 business days. Enterprise customers on annual plans receive a pre-signed BAA as part of onboarding.
Key Terms & Obligations
Our BAA includes provisions for permitted uses and disclosures, safeguards for PHI, breach notification obligations, termination conditions, and return or destruction of PHI upon contract end. We do not sub-contract PHI processing without prior written consent.
Questions or Custom Requirements
If your organization has specific compliance requirements or needs a customized BAA, our legal team is ready to work with you. We support organizations of all sizes, from solo practitioners to large health systems.
